I shared in an earlier blog that I have four tracks of readiness and that I am aiming to be 80% ready by the end of January. I will then sail to Okinawa for a shakedown sail challenging myself and the boat with adversity. Then in April, back to Tokyo for further preparations to hopefully be at 100% readiness May for a June Departure.
Following months of research, I have now a short list of four sailmakers. Final decision this week!
I am having much discussion with technicians and possible suppliers for panels and batteries etc. I am nearly there. More news to follow.
There are two aspects to this. First, I am doing a risk assessment using a matric. I am compiling a list of things that can go wrong, their likelihood to take place (from rare to certain) and level of consequence (from negligible to catastrophic). I will share more of this at a future date. I am grateful for all those who have contributed (many unknowingly) to that list.
Also in the safety genre, finalizing the list of navigation and communications equipment as well as life raft and other emergency-related equipment.
I am grateful for the sponsors stepping in at this stage for the final leg. In particular UFC Gym who are concerned with my fitness level and Dormeo Mattress who want to ensure that the sleep I do get is restorative sleep.
Then there are the founding Keel Club Sponsors, Harry Hill/better U and Tokyo Super Cars along with GDI Communications/James Hedden.
