Join SV Wahine and me at noon on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 in Enoshima for a Canadian tradition of bringing in the New Year with an ocean swim. And if you are not in Japan, you can still join me from where you are!
For me, it will be a training exercise as I prepare to cross the North Pacific. I have been advised to practice being in cold water as an overboard drill.
For all of us, it is an opportunity to shake off 2020 with a bracing swim and recalibrate as we embark upon 2021.
Wade up to your knees, your waist, your chest, or even swim out to Wahine and back and be refreshed and rejuvenated.
Or simply enjoy a complimentary hot drink in your free, sailboat-friendly Pacific Solo Polar Bear Swim enamel mug and watch from the beach!
If you want to join, the cost is ¥5,000 for adults and ¥3,000 for full-time students.
Hot drinks and mugs available from 11:30 and the swim (which will only last minutes, or for some, seconds) will take place at 12:00 noon sharp. Frisbees will be available for fun on the beach afterward, etc.
Some of us will also be involved in searching for
Nurdles before the swim, so please feel free to come early and join in on a beach clean up exercise.
Please note: If weather conditions allow, Wahine will be anchored a short distance from shore. Rest assured that this is an informal event and whether you enter into wintry waters for a dip is your own decision. You are free to simply come along and enjoy the event from the beach.
