My deam is coming true

Pacific Solo One Year Anniversary / Lowell's 65th Birthday

Hey . . . it's my 65th birthday in March, and more importantly it will be one year since I made my Birthday announcements and launched Pacific Solo. I hope you can join me to celebrate both.

I have decided to go up market and take advantage of the great BBQ that the Marina Terrace Grill offers. The outdoor area allows for small groups to gather and there is a large overhang in case it rains. 

The cost is ￥5,000 per person plus a bottle of your choice (BYOB).
Note: Keel Club Members, Patrons and Crew are ￥4,500. Children under 12 are free.

Date: March 21st (Sat)
Time: 15:00 - 18:00
Place: Yumenoshima Marina, Tokyo
Price: ￥5,000 + B.Y.O.B.

The price includes the following:
  • 13:30 - 15:00 Reception on Board Wahine at the Visitors Dock with drinks
  • 15:00 - 18:00 All you can eat BBQ on the Terrace of the Marina Grill ( There is cover and warmth if weather is bad.
  • Plus if you like: Informal Nijikai on board Wahine at her SLIP (M14)
Also:
  • Just ￥4,500 for Keel Club Members, Patrons and Crew
  • Children under 12 are free
  • Pets are welcome
  • Free Parking
  • Free Hourly Shuttle bus from Shin Kiba station from 9 am until 8 pm ( I prefer to walk through Yumenoshima Koen which helps move from City Time to Sea Time. About 12-15 minutes.)

De-barnacled, a fresh coat of paint, and a year of reflection

I was away for a couple of weeks attending the Annapolis Boat Show. Wahine waited patiently for me to return to give her bottom a clean fresh coat of paint. It's good to see her clear of barnacles. We went back in the water a few moments ago and now enjoying the still and quiet of an autumn evening in Niihama Marina.

I heard a seasoned sailor say recently that, sailors write their plans in sand at low tide. I have certainly discovered that to be true. Yesterday, I completed a loop ( about 1,500 kms) around Kyushu Island. It was not my initial goal.

Oops! Kuroshio, not Kushiro!

I have never before revealed this publicly. It was only after releasing this video that my chronic mispronunciation and mis-spelling of "Kuroshio" current became evident. But, misspelled or not, the Kuroshio current, like my "disorder" is a very real impediment to my forward progress.
